Stainless Steel Wall Ovens Are Quite Popular

By Angela Price

Stainless steel wall ovens are immensely popular these days. These units are space savers, built into a bank of cupboards or recessed into walls. Electric and gas powered units are available. Microwaves may be added and sizes include double, single-double or just a single unit. In extensive kitchens, two sets of double ovens are sometimes set side by side.

The wall-mounted units do not have cook tops. This means that designers of kitchens need to keep this in mind, and cook tops need to be added somewhere else in the kitchen. This does not need to be a drawback as more cupboard space can be provided under the cook top, and you can have a gas cook top and an electric cooker.

Installing the wall-units at a higher level than a traditional range, makes cooking much easier on your back. There is not nearly as much bending over. Compact units of 24 to 27 inches are available for smaller installations, but it is the standard size of 30 inches wide, which is most popular. Compact units are less expensive.

There are major discussions among cooks as to whether it is better to cook with gas or with electric. Although, the wall-units do exist as gas powered, these models are not nearly as common as the electric models. It is felt that the electric units cook more evenly. As gas ovens are cooler at the bottom requiring the alternating of food from rack to rack during cooking, this causes more work.

Now you need to decide whether to purchase a double or single walls mounted cooker. Single-wall units have one heat control for the entire oven, and that oven has one door. These are a nice size for the average kitchen and can be excellent for a small family. On the other hand, if you do a good deal of family cooking, or just a good deal of cooking and baking in general, it might be better to go with a single-double unit.

The first is something known as a single-double unit. Although, this is the same size as a single unit, it has two doors, and two separate temperature controlled areas. This is excellent for a family situation, or for a cook who loves to make major production dinners, or loves to entertain. Then for the true chief out there, there are the double ovens. These are actually two completely separate cookers, which have their own controls and each is the same size as a single or single-double unit.

Adding a microwave to the bank of ovens can be a real space saver in your kitchen design. Microwaves may appear small from the front, but they take up considerable space on a counter. Moreover, it can be an excellent idea to combine all your cooking facilities into one space, leaving plenty of room for a cook top and counter work space.

In conclusion, adding stainless steel wall ovens to a kitchen design can be a great way to get the most bangs for your buck when it comes to baking and cooking space. Small kitchens and large can be fitted out with single, single-double or double units with the addition of a microwave if necessary. Have a look and see.
