They have emerged from their humble Italian origins to become a popular food item that kids and adults love. It can be eaten for dinner, snacks, or as party food. They can come in various crusts, sauces, and toppings. Their variety would be almost infinite. You would have many choices available. These pies would usually be laden with fats, calories, and salts however. It would not exactly be a healthy dish for anyone. To enjoy this favorite, you should then learn some tips for eating these pies in a healthy way.

One must remember that every slice will contain excessive calories. Consuming an entire pie will be then a disaster. Ever individual servings in most restaurants will be too big. One must then indulge in such pies with colleagues, friends, or relatives. Sharing will be essential. One must share so they could eat only one or two slices. One could then satisfy their cravings without consuming too much. One could enjoy their meal better. One could feel more satisfied as well.

One must pick their ingredients properly. One needs to pick a proper crust, for one. Their crust must be thin preferably. Stuffed crusts, pan crusts, and thick crusts will all contain large amounts of calories. Such crusts will contain large amounts of carbohydrates. One must pick thinner crusts then which will provide more crispiness, better flavors, and less calories. If you can, you must also pick whole grain crusts. It will provide less calories, more satisfaction, and more fiber.

One must pick toppings wisely too. One must avoid fat laden items like beef balls, pepperoni, and salami. One must pick leaner meat cuts instead. It will include chicken strips, Canadian bacon, and turkey slices. One could pick seafood toppings too. They could enjoy tasty treats with less calories. One must control topping amounts too.

Adding more vegetables is also great. Vegetable toppings can be already found in a lot of pies. A better way of consuming more vegetables can be achieved with this. Eating the vegetables would not be felt even. Everything would be made better with the crust, cheese, and sauce. The slice can also be loaded with as much veggies as possible.

You should also place more sauce. These sauces would actually be healthy. Red sauces would be ideal as they are made from tomatoes. Tomato sauce can have antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals that would be good for your health.

Do not also place too much cheese. The soft, creamy, and tasty goodness of cheese would bring more fats and calories. You should then go light with this. You can place cheese, but do not add more.

A nice healthy side dish must be ordered as well. One must eat it before eating their slice. This will provide more vegetable servings, variety, and more satisfied feeling. Avoid mozzarella sticks, garlic breads, and bread sticks.

One must eat their pizza centennial wisely. They must pick healthy, high quality, and fresh ingredients. One must control portions too. They could enjoy pizza then without feeling guilty.
